I went back to New Mexico for the first time since 2015 to visit my bestie Rachel with our friend Dylan, her boyfriend Dustin, and my boyfriend Jacob. We took the chance to explore the state and fit in as many fun experiences together as possible. We’ve all been close friends since college and it was great to be united again.

When we planned our trip, Jacob and I choose to drive to Nashville out of convenience; it was the closest city to us in the path of totality, and neither Jacob nor I had ever been before.
I had no desire to go to Nashville before planning this trip around the solar eclipse. I had the idea that Nashville was nothing but a country-music city—not the type of place that really attracted me. Little did I know that by the time we left, Nashville would become my most beloved city.

This was my first experience traveling alone; I'd never even been through an airport before! I was really freaked out on my first flight out of Lafayette (the plane felt tiny to me), but I got myself through it. This trip was a big deal to me as it was gift to myself for working hard throughout college and graduating, so I made sure to make the most of it.
