Austin | Travel Recap

We spent our 2019 Labor Day weekend visiting Austin, Texas for the first time.

We stayed in an adorable kanga room “casita” tiny house in our host’s backyard. It was simple and cute, decorated with one Frida Kahlo painting above the bed.

On our first day in Austin, Jacob and I went kayaking on Lady Bird Lake. This was a first for both of us. I could definitely go back and spend a half-day out there floating on the water. The view of the cityscape from the water was absolutely beautiful.

After kayaking we went down the Congress Avenue Bridge and sat amongst a crowd to watch the bats fly out at sunset. There had to be millions of them flying out from under there!

The next day we got breakfast, walked through a few gift shops, and then made our way down to Barton Springs Pool with lounge floats in hand.

That afternoon we went to visit the Blanton Museum of Art and Ellsworth Kelly’s Austin.

We ate at Touchy’s Tacos three whole times during our three day trip. This place was such a good recommendation. We are so excited that Louisiana (Baton Rouge and Lake Charles) are expected to be getting some Touchy’s locations soon! It’s probably a good thing Lafayette isn’t getting one, because that might become a problem for me, haha.
